Weston-super-Mare Rugby Club continue to recruit new players ahead of the 2025/26 Regional 2 Tribute Ale South West season, with back rower Brad Hebbard being the latest to join them.

Hebbard joins the Seasiders after two seasons playing for Old Redcliffians 2ndXV, making 24 appearances, having previously made 32 appearances over two seasons with St Bernadette’s Old Boys and being named their Young Player of the 2022/23 season.

“I joined Weston to be part of a club with strong values, a great team spirit, and a real passion for rugby,” said 22-year-old Hebbard. “It’s the perfect place to challenge myself, grow as a player, and enjoy the game with a committed and welcoming group.

“My hopes for the coming season are to stay fit, keep improving my game, and be a consistent, reliable part of the squad. I aim to contribute wherever I can and enjoy every moment, both on and off the field.”

Weston’s director of rugby, Mark Matthews, said: “It’s great news to see Bradley at the club bringing with him his experience at Old Redcliffians and enthusiasm to push for first team rugby.

“With the addition of Bradley, we have a highly competitive back row, and it will be terrific to see players challenge for selection as we continue to strengthen our squad ahead of what should be a tremendous season for the whole Club”

Hebbard played Bristol Academy U16s when they were runners-up in the 2018 Portugal Rugby Youth Festival in Lisbon, and the self-employed landscaper has also represented Somerset U20 and the senior side in the Bill Beaumont County Championship.

“Pre-season has been tough but positive,” added Hebbard. “The squad has come together well, and there’s a strong sense of focus and energy. It’s been a great chance to build fitness, sharpen skills, and set the tone for the season ahead.

“I would like to see the Weston squad grow stronger, play with passion, and stay united on and off the pitch. I’d love to see us strive for a solid league position, maintain momentum, and continue to develop the club’s future across all age groups.’

Weston-super-Mare have pre-season games during the second half of August against Burnham-on-Sea, Nailsea & Backwell, Avonmouth Old Boys and Bridgwater & Albion before the league programme starts on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
