Message from Club President, Roger Coles.

A brief Synopsis of work completed at the club on Saturday.

  • 08.30 I arrived with wood, tiles, saws, battery tools, spirit level, paint, brushes, buckets and sponges, hedge trimmers, a large hammer and a load of enthusiasm, all in the back of my van
  • 08.50 Just me, my van and my enthusiasm. A little doubt starts setting in.
  • 09.00 Never any doubt, the members start arriving in their droves.
  • 09.30 Things were really starting to get done. People sweeping, cleaning, painting, repairing and stripping.
Two guys were stripping off the old roof from the away dug out.
    Garden benches repaired and treated.
Lots of blue paint being applied everywhere, electrical fault on lights repaired.
Sponsors’ signs cleaned and timber collected.
Bacon sandwiches eaten and coffee drunk.
White paint was applied to the edges of the steps leading up to the stand.
The Roses were cleaning their changing rooms and painting the floor with grey paint.
M&J emptied their container and moved all their equipment to the large white container.
A new roof has been fitted on the away dug out, but it's not quite completed.
  • 14.30 Cans of liquid refreshment were kindly provided by the Club!!
Work slowed and people slowly disappeared.
  • 15.00 Only three of us left at the Club! We fitted a few more tiles and called it a day.
  • 15.45 Fitted new lock on gate and departed.

Many thanks to EJMgrath Construction and Seymour Roofing for their contribution of materials.

It was a great effort by lots of members, and the outside of the club looks so much better.

There were past and present senior players, parents from Minis & Juniors, Roses and Colts, keen to lend a hand.

There are still many jobs to be ticked off from the never-ending list, but we shall reconvene at a later date.

I never knew that my retirement would be so much fun!!!

A very big thank you to all who were able to attend.

Roger Coles, Club President
