The League programme for our three senior sides gets underway on Saturday afternoon, but the Colts/U18s start the action on Friday evening.
Weston Colts/U18s will make the short journey to Lobbingtons for a pre-season game against their Chew Valley counterparts on Friday (September 5, 2025), kick-off 7.30 pm.
It is the return of the league campaigns this week. For Weston-super-Mare's 1stXV, it will mean venturing into some unknown territory as they have had a lateral move to the Regional 2 Tribute Ale South West league, from the Severn counterpart, which will see them facing some teams for the first-ever time.
One of those occasions will be on Saturday when the Seasiders travel to mid-Devon to face Crediton, kick-off 2.30 pm, with the hosts having finished last season as runners-up to promoted Topsham.
Both sides were in pre-season action last weekend, with Weston-super-Mare the 39-7 home winners over Bridgwater & Albion, while Crediton had a 40-10 home victory over Taunton Warriors.
"I think we have had an excellent pre-season with around fifty players for the initial few sessions, that number varied due to holidays, etc., and it seems there is a more positive attitude ahead of this campaign," said Weston’s new club captain Charlie Brabham.
"We are building into hopefully a very successful season and trying to achieve the ultimate goal, obviously, of getting promoted back to the Regional 1 Tribute South West league, with our second and third teams also having the same aim.
"We have to continue with the big numbers at training throughout the season because consistency is vital. We have to make sure that all the players in our three senior sides are on the same page."
Brabham added, "Crediton will be aiming for the top spot, having missed out last season, but we enjoy playing the top teams. We toppled Chippenham and Trowbridge and came close against champions Drybrook when they came to the Rec.
"I think the boys are excited about the big teams like Crediton, who have been in the top four for the past three seasons. So, we will be going there to put in our best performance."
