Marlborough have just been promoted to Regional 1 South Central having won all 22 of their Regional 2 South Central games last season scoring 1004 points and only conceding 184 taking a try-scoring bonus point in each game to finish 27 points clear of second-placed Tottonians.

The 52-times capped Tonga international fly-half Bosco Vunipola, who is the uncle of Saracens, England and British & Irish Lions forwards Mako and Billy Vunipola, is the Marlborough director of rugby.

He played in two Rugby World Cups in South Africa in 1995 and England in 1999, while enjoying a distinguished Super Rugby career in the southern hemisphere for ACT Brumbies and stints at Sanyo Electric in Jampa and Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.

After making his international debut against Pacific rivals Fiji in 1990, he went on to make 41 appearances for his country over a 15-year period, scoring 50 points, his final cap coming in 2005 against France in Toulouse.

Marlborough’s coach is former Saracens and Tongan international centre Viliami Hakalo.

The Wiltshire side lost 25-22 away to St Austell, who have been promoted to Regional 1 South West for the 2023/24 season, in Regional 2 Championship Pool 1 of the Papa John’s Challenge Cup.
