With a good pre-season behind them there was an expectation that Weston with four debutants in the starting line up would carry on the good work from the previous season.

This game alas provided a staunch reminder of what a difficult division Weston are in.

Brixham thoroughly deserved their victory as Weston were poor in many areas whereas the visitors capitalised on the many errors the home side produced during the game with a ruthless efficiency.

Weston did manage to muster a try-scoring bonus point with tries by flanker AJ Hussell on his debut who scored with a superb individual effort as well as Hooker Josh Mynett fly half James Mackay and replacement lock Ash Russell.

Mackay kicked a conversion and a penalty and full back Ollie Walrond added two more conversions to make the score line more palatable but in reality Weston must improve in all areas and quickly if they are going to make a concerted effort for honours this season.
