Weston U9s 11 Wells u9s 7
Report by Jim Bishop

On a cold and frosty morning Weston under 9’s gave a warm welcome to their visitors from Wells and lined up for a game split into 3 periods.
Weston started strongly and having learned from their mistakes last week, kept their passes fast and low.
Connor Bristow had a strong game in both attack and defence, but it was good interplay between Corey Draper and Josh Kaschek that led to the opening try for Josh, which he added to later with some quick thinking near the line.
Morgan Andreozzi-Inganni ran well and finished off a good passing move to score his first try for the club whilst Sam Bishop added the fourth of the half with a powerful run to the corner.
Wells ran good lines and passed well all half, responding with 3 tries of their own to keep the match really close at the first break.
The second period was equally tight and saw some good tackling from both sides, Jack Hillman was particularly impressive in the tackle for Weston and would not let anyone pass him.
There was some exciting attacking play from Weston that saw Abi Brown, Will Stiddard, Andy Grinham and Liam Hambley all have excellent runs, but it was left to Charlie Calcutt to finish off the moves, scoring 2 well taken tries.
Wells fought hard and with 3 well worked tries of their own, levelled the scores at 6 all with just one period left to play.
After the break Weston piled on the pressure and looked really sharp; always first to the loose ball on the ground, the hard working Oliver Morgan set up good possession for his brother Sam to score.
Weston were able to rotate their squad of players to good effect, but Wells, with less players to rotate, began to tire and Weston were quick to seize the advantage.
They exploited the extra space available to score some fantastic tries through Sam Bishop, Josh Kaschek (2) and Charlie Calcutt and ran out 11-7 winners of a brilliantly entertaining match.
