Bristol Combination Cup Quarter Final at Hornets RFC
Bart's stunned South West Premier, Weston-Super-Mare in the combination cup under lights at Hornets RFC on their 4g surface.
Clinical when in their opponents 22 and brutal in defence the visitors gained a deserved victory.
A bright start by Bart's saw them take the lead on 5 minutes through winger Sam Grant following some good handling by the backs.
On 25 mins Weston levelled the score when Ben Tothill went over in the corner. Bart's replied quickly when following a flowing move John Armstrong touched down 5-10 to the visitors.
Again Weston hit straight back when James Allen went over down the blind side, 10-10.
The game was being played at a fast pace on the artificial surface. Bart's scored their 3rd try on the stroke of half time, Joe Dorrington breaking through a couple of tackles to dot down. Ollie kicking a fine conversion.
Half time score: 10-17 to Bart's in a very entertaining game.
Bart's had the advantage of the breeze as they attacked the clubhouse end in the second half, they made a fine start when didz produced a great finish after bursting through the home defence.
Ollie again with an excellent conversion, 10-24 to the visitors.
Weston came back into the game with Ben Tothill going over for his second try, conversion by Archie Tisley. 17-24 to Bart's.
On 51 mins Bart's forced a penalty in front of the posts converted by Ollie, 17-27.
Weston made a number of changes off the bench and began to take control, in the final 15 mins they spent a lot of time in the visitors 22 but Bart's defence was magnificent time and time again.
Weston got within metres of the try line but the visitors were in no mood to yield an inch and put their bodies on the line.
Bart's eventually gained a penalty cleared their lines and kept hold of the ball to see out the game for a notable win.
A great team performance against a good Weston side in a very enjoyable contest, with both sides going out to play attacking rugby.
