Winscombe won a hard-fought contest at the weekend against their nearest rivals Weston to create clear water at the top of the Somerset Premier League with a game in hand.

Weston travelled to Winscombe in the hope of taking the top spot, but encountered determined opposition and were quickly on the back foot.

For the first 30 minutes, Weston were pegged in their own half and had to deal with a number of attacks, they did well to restrict Winscombe to a single try courtesy of a well-worked move that saw winger Rhys Lewis cross in the corner.
