Tribute Somerset 2 North
Bristol Barbarians 30 Weston Athletic 50
The hosts started down the slope with a vigorous and well disciplined approach which belied their poor showing so far this season.
They opened the scoring with a penalty in front of the posts after desperate defence from Weston resulted in an infringement.
Barbarians came close with a second penalty attempt but Weston began to win more possession and played through a number of phases finished by Ben Wheeler whose strong running produced the first try of the game.
Barbarians continued to put the pressure on and were awarded for their efforts with a second penalty and then a converted try to lead 13-5 after 20 minutes.
Weston did not panic but worked hard, winning good possession which they recycled to give McGrath a chance which he took well scoring a try in the corner, which Prime converted.
McGrath was injured in the process and he was replaced by Matt Burns who scored a good try just 3 minutes after coming on, Prime converted again.
Barbarians had the last word in the first half scoring a try through the efforts of their strong pack and the game turned round with Weston just in front by 18-19.
Weston took full advantage of the slope and were completely dominant for much of the second half. They scored tries through a second for Ben Wheeler, a brace from Arnold, and skipper Nash.
Barbarians never gave up and did score a try from an interception and another after driving play by their pack but Weston had the last word as Burns scored his second which Prime converted to give Weston a deserved win and a third consecutive half century of points
