Somerset 1
Weston Utd 36 Broad Plain 12
UNITED won their last game of the season comfortably enough, but the game was spoiled as a contest as the scrums went uncontested after a quarter of an hour.
Weston fielded a young side which had an average age of 20. However, the lads acquitted themselves well with scrum-half James Rutherford scoring a hat-trick of tries.
The real stars of the afternoon were Ed Saunders and Nick Collis on the flanks, along with locks Ned Barker and Simon Hudson, who on a hot day worked tirelessly for the cause.
Full-back Niall Dunklley got on the scoresheet with a try and a conversion as did left wing Robbie Hazzard, who outpaced the covering defence for a fine score.
The excellent Saunders also crossed which was no more than he deserved on the day.
With 10 regulars missing, United still managed to complete their league campaign with a victory to finish fifth.
