Minehead 2nds 5 ptsWeston United 34 pts

WESTON United had too much gas for their West Somerset hosts as they carried on their winning start to league rugby.

Minehead were also unbeaten, but were soon behind to a Chris Young penalty. Weston scored their first try when a break by David Taylor led to Sean Bennett, on his return to the side, powering his way over. Young converting.

They increased their lead when Roger Drabble broke from inside his own half before releasing James Arnold on a 60-metre run to the line. Again Young added the extras.

Minehead hit back with a try to end the half 12 points behind. The second half was a much more one-sided affair with the pace of Arnold and Steve Thompson causing havoc in the Minehead defence.

The young pack containing several current and last year's Colts were also proving to be a tough nut to crack.

Arnold increased the lead when he latched on to a long pass by Bennett to again burn off the covering defence before Josh Littlewood went over for a well deserved try.

Young finished off the scoring when he barrelled his way over near the posts and just managed to get the conversion over the bar.

In a great team performance by a young United side there were strong performances by the two wings and Bennett in the backs as well as Drabble.

In the pack James Matthews was again outstanding even though not fully fit as was Littlewood and Eddy Saunders, but the man of the match award went to Luke Grimes who was magnificent throughout.
