Counties 3 Tribute Ale Somerset South
Crewkerne nil Weston United 56
Weston United moved into second place in the Counties 3 Tribute Ale Somerset South match as they ran in ten tries, while keeping their own line intact, as they stormed to their fifth victory in a row.
The United are level on points with Bridgwater & Albion 2ndXV and Tor, but with a game in hand on them both, have won one more game. League leaders Wells are five points above the chasing trio.
Wing Chris Young claimed three first-half tries, while second row Ross Chesher marked his 150th appearance for the United by crossing the whitewash for his 25th try as the visitors went into the break with a try-scoring bonus point.
Young kicked two conversions and fly-half Archie Tilsley also added a touchdown as the United went into the second period leading 29-nil before Tilsley claimed his second try shortly after the restart.
Replacement Brad Hebbard, second row Robson Bird, Cam Maslen and his centre partner Dan Beer completed Weston’s try rout with Maslen also converting his own touchdown.
Weston United still have four games to play this season, starting with Saturday’s visit to face Chard 2ndXV, followed a week later by their final home game when Wiveliscombe 2ndXV will be the visitors.
The United finish this campaign with away matches against the unbeaten league leaders Wells, and finally, a short trip along the A370 to face Hornets 3rdXV at The Nest.
