Counties 3 Tribute Ale Somerset South.
Weston United 63 Tor 21
Weston United matched their first-team’s try-scoring feast at Ivybridge by also running in 11 tries, including three from wing Tom Blyth, in their Counties 3 Tribute Ale Somerset South home victory over Tor.
The visitors went into the match as league leaders but have now dropped to second place, while Weston United remain fourth, 11 points behind new leaders Wells with eight games still to play, including a crunch match on April 25 at Wells.
Weston United had led 29-14 at the break with the try-scoring bonus point secured thanks to Blyth’s hat-trick plus one each for outside centre Cam Maslen and No.8 Matt James, with fly-half Archie Tilsley adding two conversions.
A try from wing Ed Davies extended the hosts’ lead early in the second half, with replacement lock Ross Chesher and skipper Rhodri Williams crossing the whitewash twice, a touchdown and a conversion from Tilsley, plus a conversion inside centre Dan Beer.
Weston United are in action on Saturday [March 14] away to Wyvern, who, having played one more game, are 11 points behind their visitors.
