After a manic week of chasing up players and losing players we travelled into the deepest parts of Somerset. A strong travelling team of 11 all arrived in great spirits. Sun was shining and the pitch was in great condition. Martock were great hosts and loaned us 4 players allowing a 15 a side game to go ahead. Weston kicked off with the sun behind them and soon showed the forward dominance with a turnover ball. This unfortunately led to martock using their very quick and talented back line more often. The reward was several very well taken trys. Weston struggled to find any form of platform to work off leading to frustration and one off runners. With halftime and 36-0 down some would have expected the travelling 11 to rollover. With a lot of soul searching and targets Weston received the kick off. Sewell going on a storming run dragging in defenders managed to get an off load to the ever improving Powell unfortunately the saw a forward pass pulling back to a scrum. Weston fired up pushed martock off their own ball resulting in martocks lose head getting injured. For safety of the players scrums went uncontested. Weston backs not wanting to be out done started to make great gains allowing the old, slow Weston pack to play more on the front foot. Jordan led his backline magnificently. The second half was cut short due to a serious injury and finished 0-0 after 26 minutes of play. Thank you to all who travelled. Lots of positives to take out of the game. Thank you to the martock boys who helped us make it 15 a side. Special mention to Shane who never played hooker won 100% of his ball and took 2 against the head, Speedy recovery see you in December.
