In inclement conditions Weston took on promotion chasing Trowbridge for the first time ever at The Rec.
After a poor beginning Weston grew into the game and were the dominant force and after nearly crossing the whitewash after a concerted period of play Weston were awarded a penalty. From the resulting line out the visitors held out until centre Archie Tilsley benefited from an attempted grubba by fly half George Nuttycombe to cross for the opening try which he converted.
Trowbridge hit back but were held up over the line.
A dog fight then ensued with both sides trying hard but too often being undone by elementary errors.
Weston nearly added to their score from a catch and drive but were deemed to have been disconnected when heading to the line.
Trowbridge finally cut the lead when left wing Wilson benefited from a powerful run by the centre.
Weston hit back straight away when centre Cameron Maslen cut a fine line following excellent work by both forwards and backs. Tilsley converted.
A great run and kick through by Tilsley led to a five metre scrum on the visitors line and it was only fitting that it was he who benefited from a powerful scrum. Tilsley then converted his own try to round off a promising forty minutes for the team and an exceptional half for Tilsley.
Weston looked as though they had scored almost from the restart but the pass to left wing Hayden Main was deemed to be forward and not long after Trowbridge scored through Wilson again even though a forward pass looked to have been made during the execution of the try.
Trowbridge then piled on the pressure and Weston did well to hold them out. Especially when they knocked on over the line in the act of scoring.
The pressure told in the end when the visitors who were definitely in the ascendancy scored a converted try to cut Weston's lead to four points.
Trowbridge were now battering the hosts but gallant defense held them out and Weston ran out winners of an excellent contest to go into the Christmas break with renewed vigour.
