With the main pitch ruled unfit for playing on the two sides decamped to the large pitch over the wall which was in pristine condition. Things couldn't have started worse when exciting kiwi full back Ryan Watterston pulled up lame in the warm up. This resulted in a reshuffle of the back line and the welcome introduction of Jack Press to the bench.
Weston however started strongly and produced an excellent passage of play only to end up conceding a soft penalty.
This did not deter the hosts and they carried the attack to the opposition.
The ball was spun wide from a forward drive and only a loose pass prevented right wing Dominic Marshall from scoring.
Longlevens were not so charitable and their full back danced and shimmied through loose tackling to open the scoring. The conversion was missed.
Weston then earned a penalty with an excellent scrum and from the ensuing line out prop Rhys Matthews added another to his seasons tally to level the score.
Fly half George Nuttycombe produced an excellent conversion.
Weston then produced a terrific defensive effort which ended with them earning a penalty on the ten metre line. Nuttycombe elected to kick for goal but the kick drifted just wide.
In the twenty fourth minute the visitors scored again after taking a quick tap from a penalty which ended wide out on the left.
With Weston conceding a string of soft penalties the visitors increased their lead with a well taken three pointer.
Straight from the restart they counter attacked and their free running backs cut through to go under the sticks to make the conversion an easy one.
Weston did cut the lead on the stroke of half time when captain and number eight Jay Davies went in under the posts to make the conversion an easy one.
Weston started the second half strongly and earned an early penalty which they elected to scrum but this came to nothing when scrum half Ashton Booths grubba kick went over the dead ball line. Weston replaced Matthews with club captain Gary
Carpenter and after a few uneventful forays decided to take the three points.
Straight from the restart Longlevens hit back with three points of their own.
Weston then gifted the visitors another seven points with some sloppy tackling.
Weston then replaced Kieran Broomsgrove with Callum Bliss Climo but Weston seemed to have lost their mojo.
The visitors stepping was causing mayhem in the hosts defence and it was no surprise when they increased their lead by another seven points to put them almost out of sight.
Weston did rally and from a penalty and following scrum Davies broke blind to cut into the extensive lead. Nuttycombe expertly converting from wide out on the right. The deficit was increased when a potentially offside centre intercepted to go under the posts.
A tremendous try saving tackle by Davies stopped the away side from increasing their lead. Another interception rounded off the scoring to leave Weston well beaten.
Despite some relatively good performances from debutant lock Bede Brown along with his second row partner Ross Chesher along with the always combative Davies Weston were well beaten and the same pattern emerged as in previous games. They must now do a lot of soul searching and try to channel their good play into a more consistent eighty minute game plan which means a lot more concentration is needed in defence as a minimum.
