Two tries from hooker Josh Mynett, one from wing Chris Young and a penalty try plus two conversions by fly-half Archie Tilsley saw Weston United secure victory over neighbours Hornets 2ndXV.
It was Weston United’s second victory in a row in the South Pool of this season’s Webb Ellis Somerset County Cup following the 12-5 win away to Wellington Chiefs last month.
The bonus point victory puts Weston United at the top of the South Pool table on nine points from two games. Wellington Chiefs and Hornets 2ndXV are on six points from three games – they play at The Nest on April 22.
Taunton Warriors are on five points from two games followed by Winscombe, who face Weston United on Thursday, April 20 (kick-off 7.30pm), who are on three points from two games.
Winscombe host Wellington Chiefs on Saturday, April 15, kick-off 3pm.
The winners of South Pool will face the winners of North Pool, currently Chew Valley 2ndXV, but with one match left to play, at North Petherton on Thursday, April 27, kick-off 7.30pm
The Somerset Vase final will be at Chard RFC own Tuesday, April 25, 2023, with the Junior Cup finals at Cheddar Valley RFC on Sunday, April 30, 2023
