Weston comprehensively beaten

Match report by Chris Heath

Weston were buoyed by improved performances in recent weeks but this game put Weston even deeper into the relegation mire after they were ripped apart by Chews strong running backs exemplified by fullback Tom Bryan who scored two tries and added six conversions to go with a brace for Lewis Thomas plus one each for Dan Gatton and Joe Webb alongside a penalty try.
Weston actually took the lead through a James Mackay penalty and then following Thomas's first converted try wing Joe Burgess crossed to give Weston a point lead in the twentieth minute.
This was as good as it got for the hosts as they were on occasions run ragged by the speed and strength of the Chee attack.
The visitors scored two more before the break to go eleven points clear but Weston had another chance on the stroke of half time when Burgess just failed to control a long pass from his opposite wing Kyran Devitt while crossing the visitors line.
The second half was more of the same with a penalty try being awarded before lock Andrew Glen reduced the deficit but then Chew scented blood and ran in another three converted tries to end up comprehensive victors.
Although the front five stood up well in the set piece Weston were over run in the wide areas and a reset of how to get the best out of this team is going to be needed.
Special mention for Mackay who must have broken some sort of record for most tackles made by a fly half.
